Build Your Next Home With Sopris

For over 30 years, Sopris Homes has built luxury homes across Boulder and the Front Range. Whether you want to start from scratch with your own design or step into a home that's already been thoughtfully planned out, we have a path that fits how you want to work.

A fully custom home starts with a conversation, not a floor plan, whether that conversation is about designing your home from scratch or building a design you already have. If you're starting from zero, we work with you from the beginning to design a home around your lifestyle, your lot, and your vision. Our team includes architects, engineers, interior design consultants, and exterior colorists who collaborate from the start, so that every decision connects to the next one. If you already have an architect or a completed design, we're just as comfortable stepping in to build it.

You'll have input on layout, finishes, structural features, and the details that most builders consider fixed. We pair that flexibility with clear communication, an established process, and a dedicated project manager who keeps things moving and keeps you informed. The result is a home that genuinely reflects who you are, built to a standard that holds its value for years.

Building on your own lot is where most of our current work happens, and it's the path we know best. We also build on available homesites within the communities we develop, including The Farm at Woodridge near Longmont, Renegade at North Table in Golden, and Heron Lakes in Berthoud. Wherever your land is on the Front Range, reach out and we'll talk through what's possible.

SEMI-CUSTOM

Semi-custom Homes

Not everyone wants to make hundreds of decisions from scratch. If that sounds like you, our pre-designed homes offer a starting point that's already been carefully thought through. These are homes Sopris Homes has designed and is preparing to build. The architecture, layout, and key features are set, but because construction hasn't started yet, there's often still room to make the home feel like yours through finish selections and certain design choices.

Current examples include a net-zero ranch in Boulder's Gunbarrel Green neighborhood at 5083 Cottonwood Drive, a 3,262 square foot, 4-bed, 5-bath home with solar, heat pump systems, and a location minutes from Boulder Country Club. Another is a 6,148 square foot mountain contemporary at 18285 W 57th Place in Golden's Renegade at North Table community, a 4-bed, 7-bath home with Front Range views, a walkout lower level, and direct trail access. Both are listed at $3,100,000.

These homes carry the same construction standards, energy efficiency focus, and craftsmanship as everything else we build. You get the quality of a Sopris Homes build without having to manage every decision in the design process.

REMODELS

Sopris Homes takes on large-scale remodeling projects where the scope and complexity matches our capabilities as a custom builder. That means whole-home renovations, significant additions, and full rebuilds, not individual room updates. Some clients come to us with a design already in place, whether that's their own architect or plans they've developed independently, and we build from it. Others want us involved from the earliest planning stages. Either way works.

Our experience with the Marshall Fire rebuilds is a good example of what this looks like in practice. After the fire destroyed over a thousand homes in Louisville, Superior, and unincorporated Boulder County in December 2021, Sopris stepped in to help displaced families rebuild. These were not simple reconstruction projects. We managed each one from design through completion, incorporating current energy codes, fire-resistant materials, and high-performance building systems into homes that in some cases exceeded 7,000 square feet. Every home we built through that effort achieved Energy Star 3.2 certification and Net Zero certification, the result of a disciplined approach to building envelope design, glazing, mechanical systems, and on-site energy production.

If you're considering a major renovation, whether you need a builder to execute a design you already have or want a team involved from the start, contact us. We bring the same team, the same standards, and the same process regardless of where in the process you bring us in.

Remodels

How the process works

Whether you're starting a custom build or have your eye on one of our pre-designed homes, the process starts the same way: with a conversation.

01

Initial Consultation. We learn about your goals, your timeline, and your budget. This shapes everything that follows.

Design and Planning. For custom builds, our team works with you to develop plans and finishes from the ground up. For pre-designed homes, we walk you through the existing design and discuss what can be personalized.

02

Permitting and Pre-Construction. We manage the permitting process and work with engineers to make sure everything is in order before construction begins.

04

03

Construction. Your project manager keeps the build on schedule and keeps you in the loop throughout. You'll always know where things stand.

Final Walkthrough and Delivery. We walk through the finished home together and address any outstanding items before you take ownership.

05

Post-closing support and warranty. After you take ownership, we stand behind our work. We offer a warranty period to address any issues that come up and remain available as your point of contact after closing.

06
